Roulston Scar Rampart and Ditch section

Description

Excavations of the Hill Fort at Roulston Scar, NYMNP, built in the late Bronze Age c. 1000-850BC, the ditch was re-cut in the Iron Age c. 350BC. A palisade slot cuts the rampart may relate to the Battle of Byland,1322AD where the Scots beat the English.
