Experimenting with extracting paving patterns from low-fidelity iPhone scans (captured with sitescape.ai). Processed in Cloudcompare. Based off this original scan here https://skfb.ly/o7QLw 1) Section scan to ground-level 2) Convert RGB colours to individual R/G/B scalar-fields 3) Reduce thresholds for each channel successively and filter-by-threshold value. 4) Use PCV to colour excluded paving, and viridis to colour extracted paving. If I was better at programming I think you could measure the size of the paving stones on site and then input this somehow into whatever tool to perform a rectangle fitting to the paving pattern, then you if were clever you could ask the programme to recreate the 2D paving pattern based on the data inputed (i.e. infer that the circular paving stones continue around). Would be cool for analysis of old/historic paved areas, maybe has application to landscape architecture. Might try it on similiarly coloured paving next time. Just for fun.
