The panel lies on the steep south bank of an unnamed tributary of the Ettrick Burn, Isle of Bute, below a field gate about 25m to the S. The tributary leads to a waterfall a short distance to the E. The field gate gives access to the last grass field heading N up the valley of the Ettrick Burn, between Kilbride Hill and Muirton Hill. A cluster of 3 boulders lies about 6m to the S of the panel. The panel is unlikely to be in its original location. It was probably cleared from the grass field along with the aforementioned boulders. There is a view down the steep slope towards the Ettrick Burn.
