Derrygimlagh Bog

Description

Mylonitised felsic rocks of the Delaney Dome in Connemara. This outcrop is along a road that leads to the site where Alcock & Brown (crash)landed their plane after being the first to successfully cross the Altlantic in 1919. It is also the site of the Marconi telegraph station (1905-25) which transmitted and received the first commercial wireless messages.
