Another test to get the number of faces down. When creating this with a modeling application, that would be a very low poly model. Using 3DF Zephyr, I tried to selectively reduce the face count on the faces to keep the edges sharp, but the reduction filter creates very bad 3D wireframe, so it is necesarry to run the retopology filter, which creates a homogenous wireframe for the whole model, increasing the face count of the planes again.
