Migmatite, Connemara

Description

This rock was originally a pelite (and before that, a mudstone) that has been heated and migmatised (undergone partial melting) as it was intruded by gabbros and granitic rocks towards the end of the Caledonian orogeny in western Ireland (about 470Ma).
