Another attempt at doing my reactor core animation. I created the first ring of panels, then set their origin to the middle. I animated their Z rotation to make them orbit while facing the center. This was much easier than my previous method using circles and constraints. The path+constraint method would be useful if the panels were not following a simple path. For the animation, I made the outermost panel rotate 360 degrees and then added 360 for each panel as I moved towards the center. To create the top and bottom ring, I duplicated the panels from the center and changed their rotation as a group, then applied the rotation so the same animation could be used for them. I also dropped each panel by 1 meter consecutively. I just had to make sure there were no keyframes set for position or scale. Those keyframes can be deleted by right-clicking the properties in the panel next to the heirarchy and clicking “Clear keyframes”. When exporting to FBX do NOT check “All Actions” under Bake Animation.
