This sample, from the Betty Mine in Park County, Colorado, contains mostly large blades of anthophyllite. The largest blades are several cm long. The sample also contains a significant amount of cordierite but it is much finer grained than the anthophyllite and is a bit hard to pick out. Look closely -- the cordierite is blue to gray in color and has a somewhat vitreous luster. If not for the blue color, it would be hard to tell that it is present.
