Norite cumulate, Point Sal ophiolite, CA

Description

Pebble of norite (orthopyroxene gabbro; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norite) cumulate with alternating plagioclase-rich and pyroxene-rich layers. Contains a very coarse-grained layer of orthopyroxene with enstatite crystals rimmed by hedenbergite. Part of WVU Petrology Lab's Point Sal ophiolite suite from Vandenberg Airforce Base, California.
