Casimir III the Great

Casimir III the Great. King of Poland from 1333 to 1370. He also later became King of Rus' in 1340. The sculpture comes from the Gothic collegiate church in Wiślica. In 1938 it was transferred to the Jagiellonian University on the initiative of Jerzy Żarnecki (1915–2008), an outstanding Polish art historian.
