Unprovienced Columbia Plain majolica base, course earthenware, hand thrown, Spain, 1490-1650. Light cream to buff paste color, with a soft, chalky clay texture. Occasionally pink. Off-white, cream, or grayish-white tin glaze covering both sides of the vessle. The quality of the glaze varies widely among vessles, from thin, irregular and shiny, to thick, matte and smooth.
