14th century Brass Matrix

Description

Fragment of a 14th century stone matrix for a brass effigy with marginal inscription and other inlaid decoration. Very damaged. Bradley et al (1986) read the surviving letter matrices as: Y C O L L 57cm, W 23-30cm, T 7cm. Located at St. James Church, Castledermot, Co. Kildare.
