by FHQ-Wehrwolf in cultural-heritage-history
This is the private house and small concrete air raid shelter (bunker) of Adolf Hitler in the Führerhauptquartier "Wehrwolf" (main German Army Headquarters in Summer 1942). The wooden log cabin was built in 1942 by the Organisation Todt (O.T.) troops. It is constructed against the small concrete air raid shelter (bunker: 10,5m x 10m). The access was via a standard wooden door in the back of Hitlers main office. There was NO emergency exit. The wooden log cabin was numbered "Haus Nr 11". It was constructed in the first half of 1942 and extensively used by Hitler from 16. July 1942 until 1. November 1942. And a second period from 19. February until 13. March 1943. It was destroyed by fire (flamethrowers) and the bunker by a massive explosion by German troops on 10. March 1944. It is modelled after my intensive on-site research and the analysis of hundreds of period photos. Its geographical location is: 49°18'15.22"N 28°30'0.57"E The foundations of the "bunker" today still exist and can be visited.
