Fujiko Stone Monuments scans with iPhone12 Pro

These five stone monuments bear to this day traces of the “Fujiko” faithful who lived in the Yanagimori Shrine area. Fujiko was a popular faith tradition based on devotion to Mt. Fuji and attracted a large following among townspeople and farmers during the Edo Period. In 1680, a deity enshrined in Fuji Sengen Shrine was moved from Suruga Fujinomiya Sengen Shrine and enshrined together with Yanagimori Shrine thereby giving it a close connection with Fujiko. Toto Saijiki (“Eastern Capital Almanac”) mentions Yanagimori Shrine as an example of “Fujimairi” (visiting Fuji Sengen Shrine) in the Tenpo Era (1830-1844).
