Fragment of a carved early medieval stone possibly belonging to a high cross. The stone was found close to KIlwinning Abbey which was founded in the mid 12th century but the stone may be associated with an earlier church founded by St. Winning in the early seventh century. The stone is now on display in the North Ayrshire Heritage Centre in the nearby town of Saltcoats https://artuk.org/visit/venues/north-ayrshire-heritage-centre-7359 For more information on Kilwinnings History check Kilwinning Heritages website https://www.kilwinningheritage.org.uk/
