Двухэтажный каменный дом, построенный на месте более старинного здания гатчинским старожилом, купцом 3-й гильдии Поликарпом Прокофьевичем Варгиным по проекту А.М. Байкова в 1828 и перестроенный в 1839, открывает правую часть панорамы Соборной улицы. В этом здании, как и в предшествующем ему, купцом Поликарпом Варгиным был открыт трактир «на западный манер» , так называемый «герберг». Leningrad region, Gatchina, Sobornaya street, house 1.
