The cooker presented here was meticulously fabricated and rendered in a style that was both aesthetically pleasing and modern for its time. In the press of the period, New World cookers were described as the most modern and efficient gas-fired devices in the world. The New World gas cooker is an example of a device in which thermostats were installed for the first time, allowing heat adjustment and protection against gas leaks in the event of the accidental opening of a tap. The Regulo thermostat was installed on right side of the cooker and allowed nine levels of temperature adjustment. Regulo thermostats enabled a major leap in the design of gas-fired devices, as they automatically maintained heat in the oven if there was a gas pressure drop. The cooker is equipped with five burners, an oven, and a grill with three shelves. Manufacturer: Radiation Limited, Richmond Gas Stove Co.
