The second fundamental direction, in red, addresses the balance of a garment that rests on the shoulders. The lines indicate a direction for the fabric to be draped around the torso so as to allow full movement and also to stay in place while the body moves. The lines start at the centre back of the neck (upper blue point) and move forward and down over the shoulder, then turn under the armpit, where they pass the front green armpit point and connect to themselves at the centre back of the waist (lower blue point). This direction may be associated with so-called halter-neck garments, but it is valid for any garment that rests on the shoulders (i.e. jacket, shirt, dress sweater, etc.).
