A Piscina is a shallow stone basin used to wash communion vessels. This example ws donated to Glasgow Museums by Sir William and Lady Burrell in 1944. It dates to the 16th century and is made of limestone. There are elaborate carved figures on a Gothic architectural structure decorated with scrolls carved with letters. Top band says 'dIEVMEPOVRVOIE' and 'POIRV….VOVIR'. Second band down says'dIEVMEIPOV' and 'VOIE' and 'EVMEIPOVRVOIE'. Third band down says 'dIEVMEPOVRVOIE' and ''dIEVMEPOV'. Band around base repeats same pattern but much missing.
