Sunflower Sea Star

*Pycnopodia Helianthoides* This big guy has very many arms (16-24!) that can reach up to one meter in diameter. These long arms enable it to pry open large clams and even feast on other smaller sea stars. They are found in the northeast Pacific and can be found hanging out near sea urchins (their favorite snack). As of 2020, they are officially a critically endangered species due to sea star wasting disease and climate change.
