This model shows Meteor Crater (Barringer Crater) in Arizona, USA, the site of a 50,000-year old meteorite impact. The crater has a diameter of 1200 m, a depth of 170 m, and the rim rises 50 m above the surrounding terrain. The model is shown here with 2X vertical exaggeration. Model created for the Dartmouth College Earth Sciences Department off-campus program by Jonathan W. Chipman, Citrin GIS/Applied Spatial Analysis Lab, Dartmouth College.
