An attempt to perform a kind of "loop closure" on [this cool scan](https://skfb.ly/o6qNN) by [@edemaistre](https://sketchfab.com/edemaistre). The idea behind this approach comes from the observation that a scan with a gap created by the accumulating drift looks a bit like a distorted scale model. Imagine a 3d printed version of the orignal scan: you should be able to apply a little force and connect the endpoints and force them to meet. At the same time, the rigidity of the material would ensure even bending. I digitally recreated this scenario using [Kangaroo](http://kangaroo3d.com/) - the physics solver for [Grasshopper for Rhino3d](https://www.rhino3d.com/6/new/grasshopper/). Volvox - a plugin for handling point clouds was also useful here. If you assume that the drift is more or less uniformly distributed along the scan path, this "physical" approach should approximate the ground truth well enough, at least for visualisation purposes.
