Norðradalur, Faroe Islands

Description

This cirkular enclosure is located some 200 meters south of the farm house, in the small village of Norðradalur. In an excavation undartaken by the local Farmer at the time, a wooden coffin was discovered. It was full of water, a large lump of fat, and a human heel bone and thick skin from under the heel. This was story was published in the local newspaper Dimmalætting 7th of march 1885. The National Museum, Fornminnissavnið surveyed the site in may 2016. Model by Helgi D. Michelsen
