Basaltic andesites, Spain

Description

Basaltic andesites with columnar jointing, in sharp contact with rhyolitic ignimbrites (yellow deposits at the far left). On top there is a Pleistocene oolitic fossil beach. Some of the carbonate has percolated through fractures in the andesite, forming thick fillings. Playa de los Genoveses, Cabo de Gata Natural Park, Almeria, Spain.
