This marble figure represents a lion with its mouth open, crouching for a spring. The bristling manes are arranged in a series of locks in parallel rows. The left fore leg is mended. The lower jaw, tail and a part of the left hind leg are missing. The statue is not certainly associated with the Nereid monument. They appear stylistically earlier in date. Length: 1.6 metres COL: [GAA8133](http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_online/collection_object_details.aspx?assetId=100678001&objectId=460580&partId=1) 116 photographs, Sony A6000, assembled in photoscan by Daniel Pett.
