A wee devil (Romani bengoro) is a prop for larcenous magic. It was made in 1979 by Anna Kamińska, called Mamcia (wife of Malencio Józef Kamiński), from the Gypsies of Galicia. It was created at the request of Adam Bartosz, the organiser of the museum exhibition Gypsies in Polish culture. The figurine of a wee devil is made of stearin (candle wax). Heated by fire, the softened stearin was mixed with soot, which imparted a black colour (devilish in the creator’s understanding). Inventory number: MT-E/2171 Anna Kamińska – Mamcia 1979, Tarnów, Poland District Museum in Tarnów https://muzea.malopolska.pl/en/objects-list/1340
