The presented box for kefir tablets dates back to 1927–1939. They were produced by the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Factory of Bolesław Krogulecki (1885–1939). They facilitated the preparation of kefir, which was valued as a therapeutic and nutritional agent. The kefir grains, also called kefir mushrooms, are clusters of many species of bacteria, lactic acid, acetic acid and yeast responsible for lactic and alcoholic fermentation, which takes place during the production of kefir. The drink was produced by members of many tribes, including Ossetians, Balkars, Bezhta and Chamalal. Due to its healing and dietary properties, kefir is used in gastrointestinal tract disorders, in convalescents, in general exhaustion, chronic diseases and during lactation.
