An incomplete copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill of Roman dating AD 80 to AD120. Around 25% of the brooch is present, consisting of the bow. The wings, spring, pin, foot and catch plate are missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The bow is angular and hump back, resembling a comma. It is broken around 1/3 of its length. Ridges are present at the shoulder junction between the bow and the wings. The wings are incomplete and consist of small stubs. A cylindrical recess is present behind the wings, this would originally have retained the spring. The reverse is undecorated.
