Unknown author. Dzisna Paviet, Viĺnia Voivodeship (?), Second Polish Republic. 1920s. Clay, birch bark, woven fabric; throwing, modeling, firing, wrapping. Height – 17,5; opening diameter – 17; bottom diameter – 13,5. КП 16860. Was in use in the village of Hiermanavičy, Šarkaŭščyna District, Viciebsk Region. Braided ceramics containing birch bark was widely spread in the Northern west part of Belarus. Such wrapping was used in relation to either already damaged clayware to repair it, or undamaged vessels for protective purposes. The ceramic wares containing braids were commonly used for food storage and cold food processing. Our ancestors employed this pot for making sour cream.
