Greatly inspired by Zombie Tools: https://zombietools.net/collections/blades/products/the-dcapitan-sabre I made a few changes to make it handle more lively. The blade narrows down more toward the tip to shave off mass in the front. The reason of doing that is that in modern terms, it is actually quite costy to replicate historical sabres because their handling characteristics are greatly affected by distal taper (reduction in thickness). Many had tangs up to 10mm and shaved down to less than half of that across 1/3 of blade length and blade tips are usually less than 2mm thick. To make something similar you have to grind off huge amount of material or you forge them which can be hard. For this model the blade is 5mm consistent, and the mass is controled by profile taper (reduction in width) only. As a result, the sword is easy to make right for any seasoned knife maker. The final piece sets nicely at 800g with a 72.5cm blade and 13cm POB. These stats are very close to infantry sabres of the 1800s.
