9 Coblentz Ave (Demolished)

Description

Since 1972, the house at #9 Coblentz Avenue was the home of the Braithwaite family. Edward and Marjorie Braithwaite bought the house from Luis and Margaret Devaux for $33,000. Margaret decided to sell the house and move to Australia due to the uncertainty arising from the Black Power Movement and after her son was attacked in front of Queen’s Hall. Prior 1972, the family lived at #14, Coblentz Avenue, Cascade in Government Quarters.Their daughter Sandra remembers her mum visiting the house and instantly falling in love with the property. The front lawn drew her mum’s attention as she was an avid gardener and saw the potential for her favourite past time.
