Carved rock, Rosedale Railway

Description

A large flat boulder alongside Reeking Gill on the Rosedale Railway. Carved into the face are various initials: - I.H.D.M(?) - Smith (possibly with first letter reversed by mistake) - JD Perhaps made by navvies whilst taking a break from building the railway or the culvert. The untextured model below shows the letters more clearly.
