Sapphire 6-3

Description

Corundum has many different colorations and appearances. This is an example of a blue variety of corundum called sapphire. Although the model did not capture it, this specimen is slightly translucent. Note the hexagonal cross section and good cleavage perpendicular to the crystal's long dimension.
