The Beaver is a part of a series of sculptures that was built in 2018, during the renovation of the Tapijn area in Maastricht. The statues are made under the project called Natuurgluren; the statues are made of wood, and are based on the animals that inhabit the Tapijn. Every statue contians a QR code that visitors can scan, and thus receive information about the species represented, and footage of the animal actually recorded in the Tapijn. All the statues are also connected to a hiking trail, so that visitors can follow the trail and learn about all the flora and fauna present in the Tapijn.
