Description
In the 1790s, Francis Charteris of Amisfield (1723-1808) commissioned Thomas Harrison of Lancaster to build a necropolis in the grounds of Gosford House, East Lothian. The mausoleum has 64 niches and the design for the roof was based on the Great Pryamid of Giza.
