Snail: Conus geographus (PRI 54489)

Description

Modern specimen of the cone snail *Conus geographus* from the coast of Sri Lanka (PRI 54489). This fish-eating snail is one of the deadliest animals on Earth; its sting has caused at least 30 human fatalities. Specimen is from the research collections of the [Paleontological Research Institution](http://www.priweb.org), Ithaca, New York. Shell length is approximately 11 cm. Model by Emily Hauf.
