The Fletcher class was a class of destroyers built for the US Navy in WW2 with 175 commissioned units until the end of the war. They were highly effective in guarding convoys and protecting task forces, they were the backbone of the destroyer fleets the US Navy had under their command. Their weaponry consisted out of five 5 inch guns, Bofors and depth charges, being able to take care of most light opponents. Losses in all theatres occured, yet they could still stand their ground and defend anything necessary. Over the years of service several upgrades were installed, most of the units served up until the 70s in the hands of the Navy, fighting several wars. Several units got sold after the war to other nations where they served up until the 90s, a high age for ships only designed for short time use. Four fletcher classes are held as museums, USS The Sullivans, USS Kidd, USS Cassin Young and Velos. This model was made with the help of the US Navy recognition manual, hence the lack of detail
