Born: February 1, 1915 in Savannah, Georgia. Died: January 3, 2014 In Charleston, South Carolina (aged 98). Portrait painter and actress. She is the child of an aristocratic southern family. Her grandfather, Col. Alfred Moore Rhett was commander of the 1st South Carolina artillery. Her great-grandfather was Senator Robert Barnwell Rhett a "Fire-Eater." She is remembered for her one and only movie role, India Wilkes, in the 1939 Oscar-winning classic "Gone With the Wind" (GWTW). Between takes on GWTW, she made sketches of her fellow castemates. When her father died in WWI she and her mother moved to Charleston, South Carolina. Soon, she was acting in theatres and creating portraits of American servicemen in the Charleston area. Some of her works are on display in the South Carolina State Library. She also illustrated several books. She died of natural causes at Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community and was cited in her obituary as the oldest living actor from GWTW.
