Retrogressed metabasalt (Zermatt)

Description

Outcrop of metamorphic rock near Trockener Steg, Zermatt, Switzerland. These metabasalt recorded first a high-pressure metamorphic stage (eclogite facies) during the Alpine subduction and greenschist metamorphism during the collision.
