The mineral olivine is a magnesium iron silicate. The primary component of the Earth's upper mantle, it is a common mineral in Earth's subsurface, but weathers quickly on the surface. Olivine is found in many stony meteorites which are thought to have originated from the mantle of a rocky planet that used to orbit between Mars and Jupiter, or possibly an asteroid large enough to have a mantle. more info here: https://geology.com/minerals/olivine.shtml#:~:text=Olivine%20is%20the%20name%20of,and%20Fe2SiO4.
