Description

Model of the northern half of the island of Vulcano in the Aeolian Islands archipelago, southern Italy. This is a test model from 3 aerial photographs (black and white prints, 25 x 25 cm, scanned) from the 1950s. Flight altitude 5700 m, flight direction approximately N-S. The photos were scanned in at 4800 dpi. The final resolution of the model, in the best resolved area (valley south of the main cone), is about 10 m (before downsampling to reduce file size for upload). Vertical exaggeration is approximately 2x.
