**Geologic block model of a graben** This block features a stratified sequence of cherry, green poplar, purpleheart, and maple that are offset by two normal faults and cut by a vertical dike of black walnut. These strata are down-dropped into a graben along the normal faults. Bedrock and alluvial deposits accumulated in the graben are incised by glacial (U-shaped) and river (V-shaped) erosion.
