[Capital with Samson and an Attendant Fighting a Lion, ca. 1175–1200.](https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/466335?searchField=All&sortBy=Relevance&ft=palencia&offset=0&rpp=20&pos=4) Provenance: Palencia, Spain. Probably from [Ojeda-Boedo](https://bit.ly/2RnBSti). [3D collection of romanesque art from Palencia here](https://skfb.ly/6xVVO) The Met Fifth Avenue, NYC. This capital,[ with another one](https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/capital-with-a-centaur-battling-met-6efecd91566e4c19bd5ef463989a1ee4), depict, in a simple, almost abstract manner, a man and an animal engaged in combat. The capitals must have supported a principal arch, perhaps the entrance to the choir of a church. Here Samson, with long hair, struggles with the lion, assisted by two men, one with a mace, another with a knife. Due to its position at the exhibition, in between two display cabinets, can't register the lateral sides properly, that is the lack of quality of them.
