Megacolon

Description

This model was created in 3D slicer using the Colonix data set from the OsiriX DICOM Image library. Here we can appreciate a dilated colon and what appears to be a transverse colon volvulus (TCV). TCV represent about 2-4% of all colonic volvulus and are usually diagnosed intraoperatively. Using 3D models, can expedite the diagnostic process and prevent further complications such as necrosis or peritonitis. © 2021 Pauline Ton, St. George's University
