Sections of spheres: A dome, or rotunda, set atop corner arches, historically called pendentives. This is a particular construction system using √n series to define quadric surfaces, spheres being a prime example. Many others are possible. For example, instead of a spherical dome as shown, there could be a paraboloid dome with the same footprint. This is a highly adaptable system. Made with vZome
