Fault gouge of the Periadriatic Fault

Description

This outcrop near Ludranski, Slovenia, exhibits the largest fault in the Alps, the Periadriatic Fault. Due to repeated motion on the fault (the total offset is estimated to several tens of kilometres), the rocks have been crushed to powder.
