80 - 86 A.D F1998.1127 This delicate cast bronze bust is one of several exciting finds found at Cardean, the site of a Roman fort in Angus. Excavations had taken place over seven years from 1968. Archaeologists found that the fort was composed of turf surrounded by four defensive ditches. Minerva was the Roman goddess of many subjects including warriors, poetry, wisdom, medicine and music. The Romans celebrated her worship from March 19th to 23rd during the *Quinquatras*, or artisan's holiday. Front scan of the object only. On display at the Meffan Museum & Art Gallery Angus Council Collections managed by ANGUSalive Museums, Galleries & Archives
