Large Monument, Kildavnet Graveyard, Achill

Description

This grave monument stands east of the chapel in front of Achill Sound. This is a model of the 19th century ledger slab placed into the larger monument. It is inscribed, "The Lord have mercy on the soul of Michl Gallagher who Departed this life". This ledger is stylised in much the same way as other ledger slabs from the same period within the graveyard. View in Matcap to see the inscription and designs in detail.
