Siegfried Marcus

Description

Siegfried Marcus Monument from 1932 by Franz Seifert. The portrait bust is located at Karlsplatz, in front of the Vienna University of Technology. Siegfried Samuel Marcus (1831-1898) was a mechanic and inventor. He was one of the pioneers in the invention of the automobile. Marcus applied for about 130 patents in many fields in several countries. He was awarded a silver medal at the Paris World Exhibition of 1867, and he also received an award from Emperor Franz Joseph I.
