Description

This is the hard shell, or "test", of *Phyllacanthus imperialis* , a species of urchin found in the Indo-Pacific region. In life this urchin has distinctive think, blunt spikes which has earned it numerous nicknames including "knobby sputnik urchin", "imperial lance urchin", "land mine urchin", and many others.
